Katy Perry Chats About Her Quirky Style With Teen Vogue

Friday, April 6, 2012

Katy Perry covers the new issue of Teen Vogue, and the starlet talks about fashion, friends, fame and how she’d like to do more films.  Katy admits that being famous has its downsides, but when you get to sit front row at all the major fashion shows, life can’t be that bad!  Plus, all the swag?  We’d trade places with her in a heartbeat!

The “Teenage Dream” singer wore everything from Zac Posen to Oscar de la Renta (above) for her photo shoot, and she topped off her look with sparkly Swarovski earrings and Smurfette-inspired hair.  Katy notes that Agyness Deyn, Chloe Sevigny, Daphne Guinness, Natalie Wood, Judy Jetson, and Wonder Woman are among her fashion inspirations, and she’s always had a different take on fashion.  “I’ve always been quirky,” she tells the mag.  “It probably started when I was nine years old, and my father used to wake me up at seven every Saturday morning to take me to garage sales. I couldn’t afford the clothes that the other girls at school were wearing, so instead I looked for things that were unique to me.”

While we seldom see another starlet wearing one of Katy’s memorable outfits, she admits that she doesn’t take her wardrobe too seriously.  “I love it, and I am so grateful when big brands want to associate with me, but mostly I just want to take chances and have fun and truly live,” she says.  “And sometimes that means wearing some ridiculous, cat-inspired outfit rather than whatever happens to be in this season.”
