It has been the most talked about haircut since Jennifer Aniston’s “The Rachel,” but Halle Berry doesn’t want to be the subject of chatter about her short hair!
Halle Berry recently opened up to People magazine about how she doesn’t want to be known for her cropped hairstyle, revealing, “When I have my short, short hair, that’s when I’m my best self. But hair doesn’t define me. It’s just an accessory that I get to wear, like a handbag or shoes.”
So what motivated the Oscar winner to cut her locks in the first place? The fact that long hair is the beauty standard in Hollywood.
“I personally fought against that stereotype when I first started acting. I would go on acting auditions, and every black girl would have this long, curly hair, whether it was real or not. And I would go to these auditions and come back with nothing. So I had to somehow be different,” she added.
Bucking against the beauty statement was just what the actress needed to be noticed in the entertainment industry, though!
