Color corporation Pantone has dubbed its Color of Year for 2013, and the winner is… emerald green!
The company polls designers and brands about the colors they plan on featuring to arrive at its decision. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Angelina Jolie have rocked the hue on the red carpets, and designers such as Tracy Reese and Nanette Lepore incorporated the hue heavily into their spring 2013 collections. Designers aren’t the only ones favoring the color, however! Home retailers like JC Penny are catering to this year’s award winner, and will feature things like Pantone Emerald bedding.
“Green is the most abundant hue in nature - the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum. It’s also the color of growth, renewal, and prosperity - no other color conveys regeneration more than green. For centuries, many countries have chosen to represent healing and unity,” the company explained in a press release.
Last year’s color was the “spirited” Tangerine Tango, an orangish hue.
